Navteq announce will launcher new interface navigation GPS into true 3D

After present TV Atlas (an Interface of navgation GPS) into true 3D on World 3GSM Congress in Barcelona, Navteq has announce in CeBIT 2007 at Hanover if in the near future they will launch a similar system designed to improve to uses for cars navigation. Being different from the 3D at the current auto GPS, the new interfaces in “true 3D that will make it possible to have either a sight of top at the time of the phase of control but a sight with representation the heights and monuments. So, That will make it possible to be able to know the locate of the addresses/streets especially to will give you a describe about various buildings/monument.
With this intention, Navteq will propose two distinct systems: the first concerning a modeling of the principal European monuments in 3D and the second aiming at implementing a new interface of navigation in 3D. With this occasion, Navteq announced that they are the monuments not less than 13 European metropolises which were entirely modelled in 3D, thus including their weight, their aspect or their size.
At the time of each phase of navigation, Navteq indicates that these are on average between 15 and 30 elements in 3D which will be posted. In term of technical data, it will be necessary to have on average 2,5 Mo of space of storage per km ² to post these elements in 3D. To take the example of Paris on a surface of 90 km, one will need a space of 20 Mo to manage such cartographic data bases.
Navteq carries out currently various technical tests on prototypes of autonomous GPS to validate the use of navigation in 3D. 2715 objects modelled in 3D will be available on charts of Europe and North America by the end of the year while the year 2008 will make it possible the company to propose more contents with of which modelings of buildings or stores with their textures associated.
