Five For Fighting

Meet John Ondrasik, the only member of “FIVE FOR FIGHTING� a.k.a “FFF�. Well, actually FFF is John’s stage name was taken from an expression in ice hockey when player is sent from the rink by the referee for a five-minute major penalty for fighting. In other words, they get five for fighting.

John’s mother, who was a music teacher, taught him to play musical instruments when he was two years old. He used to “steal� his sister’s guitar (her sister happened to be a very good guitarist) to practice playing it before he decided to concentrate more on piano, even though he can also play the guitar well. Beside playing the piano John also learned to write music and sing opera. But the he found out that the latter was not his cup of tea. Instead he wanted to be a great piano player and song composer like Elton John and Billy Joel. clips and more pics after the jump.

In 2000 FFF released American Town, its first album. At first this album was not that popular, until one of the songs on this album, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)â€Â? become an anthem after the 9/11 attack and FFF joined The Concert For New York, a fund raising concert for its victim with Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger and Elthon John. “I was sitting at a piano in Madison Square Garden” says John.
